”I attended Andrew’s 1-Day Small-Group Insect Workshop on 21st July and found this to be enjoyable, informative and inspirational – so much so that I’m now actively including this genre in my photography which I had never done before.
The day was above my expectations. Andrew instructed and demonstrated details of camera settings to use, advised on composition to bring out the subject, and helped us become familiar with the insect species resident in the workshop’s location. I have been involved in photography as a hobby for many years but I learnt an enormous amount during the day. The details covered were really quite awe-inspiring and I now know my camera, lenses and techniques in a more thorough way – not just by rote. The proof of the pudding is in the eating and I’m proud to say the images I came away with were good to great! As an accomplished ecologist and photographer (FRPS), Andrew’s knowledge about photographing insects is fantastic! I joined a workshop in summer 2025 to improve my photography of small creatures and I have!  From Focus Peaking (my eyesight needed help!) to Back Button Focus and much more, Andrew patiently steered me through the menus of my OM1mk.  The field work was great, and Andrew followed up with useful papers on things we had discussed.
