Andrew McCarthy Photography

Profile

I am a photographer, ecologist and conservationist who has been lucky enough to have worked professionally with wildlife for over 30 years.  My philosophy is not just to take great images for their own sake, but to use my work to highlight the beauty and complexity of the natural world, and to raise awareness of the fragility of our environment in a period of unprecedented change.

I specialize in photographing the natural world.  I am especially interested in insect macro photography; these are a fascinating group of animals on which we all critically depend, but which are declining globally at an alarming rate.

I hold a Fellowship in Natural History photography with the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) and sit on their Fellowship and Associate Distinctions Panel.

I am lucky enough to work with the nice people at OM System and am an official OM System Ambassador.

I love to talk photography, so if you have any technical queries (especially involving OM System kit), want to discuss possible workshops, or maybe to talk through ideas for bespoke 1:1 tuition, please do drop me an email or give me a call.
