My Gear

I converted from full frame to Olympus M43 in early 2018 and I now shoot exclusively with OM System / Olympus cameras and lenses.  I am incredibly happy with my OM gear, which is light, ergonomic, and ‘intelligent’.

My personal kit list is currently as follows:

  • Olympus OM-1 bodies x2 – for wildlife and landscape
  • Olympus Pen-f body – a full-spectrum conversion for infra-red / travel photography
  • Olympus 150-400 f4.5 Pro lens – my go-to wildlife long lens
  • Olympus 40-150 f2.8 Pro lens – an amazing lens for larger insects
  • Olympus 12-45 f4 Pro lens – an ultra-lightweight landscape and travel lens
  • Olympus 60mm f2.8 Macro lens + extension tubes
  • Olympus 90mm f3.5 macro lens with Novoflex tripod collar
  • Olympus MC14 1.4x extender
  • Olympus MC20 2.0x extender

Ancillary equipment

  • Shimoda v2 30 camera back-pack with ‘Large Mirrorless’ core unit – by far the best backpack I have ever used!
  • Billingham Hadley Small Pro bag – light and small for travel
  • Billingham Hadley Pro bag – takes all my macro kit including two bodies and lenses
  • Benro Tortoise carbon tripod with levelling head
  • Flex Shooter Mini tripod head for hide work
  • Peak design travel tripod – an amazing small tripod for mobile landscape work and now my go-to for macro
  • Manfrotto 290 carbon monopod fitted with a Wimberly MH100 ‘mono-gimbal’ head – a fantastic combo with the 150-400 f4.5
  • Cognisys Sabre laser trigger – for bats-in-flight
  • Cactus RX60x flashes and stands – for bats-in-flight
  • Various LED lights for macro work
